Lesson Summary
For the second month's homework, there are three main activities to focus on:
- Interception Explored: In this exercise, you will explore different ways occupational therapists help people connect with their internal sensations. You will use various prompts to notice sensations like constriction, warmth, coolness, and movement. A PDF of sensation words will also be provided to help you better connect with your body's feelings.
- Your Body Wisdom Log: Keep a journal for a week to record your body sensations whenever you face difficult decisions. Note any gut feelings or physical responses, and document the outcomes of your decisions. This exercise aims to help you practice listening and interpreting your body's signals.
- Floor Work Exercise: This exercise from the Somatic Psychotherapy Workbook is designed to help you relax and rejuvenate after a long day. It involves specific movements on the floor to release tension and stress. Document your experience in an integration journal after completing the exercise.
By engaging in these activities, you will enhance your connection to your body and nervous system, fostering a deeper understanding of your body's cues. This work is crucial for building a partnership with your body during the trauma recovery process. Take the time to listen to your body and observe how these practices influence your overall well-being.
Below is a chart titled "Felt Sense: The Language of Sensation" that provides a comprehensive list of muscle sensations, temperature sensations, and whole-body sensations to help you articulate and identify your internal experiences.
